31C Data Talk - Weipeng Zhuo - CEO of Nexrizen. Ex. Meta
Weipeng Zhuo is a data scientist, AI system architect and co-founder/CEO of Nexrizen. He has worked at Meta and Amazon, published academic research, and practices yoga and daily meditation. In this episode, Yaron and Wei talk about why AI is pushing us, as people and as companies, to rethink productivity, self-worth and happiness.
Wei talks openly about immigrating from China at 10, running from his roots for decades, his struggles with anxiety and depression during his PhD, and his decision to leave academia before his defense. He explains how meditation turned his anxiety into "a signal, a mentor, a teacher," and how working with immigration law firms brought him back to his purpose.
On the business side, he lays out Nexrizen's human-first approach to AI: discovery and stakeholder interviews, mapping workflows into what AI should and shouldn't do, then training employees to become "AI architects" who build their own tools. He explains why change management, not technology, decides whether AI gets adopted, and why he thinks every company will be AI-native within five years.
